210 Slip Seats
Learn how to upholster a slip seat in both fabric and vinyl.
Though many people have recovered their kitchen chairs, this course should not be skipped. We will look at this simple project through the lens of a professional and introduce “best practices” that you’ll need for more complex styles.
Before beginning, we recommend that you complete Boxed Cushions, although these two courses can be completed simultaneously.
This course will demonstrate how to fully reupholster a pull-over slip seat, including an introduction to webbing and padding. We’ll discuss how to approach each step with professional results in mind, including steps like cutting, centering, tensioning, corners and trimming.
This course gives in-depth video and downloadable instruction on how to reupholster two example seats in fabric and vinyl. Additionally, there are downloadable resources and forms to help you apply knowledge to any basic pull over project you may encounter.
By the end of this course, students will be prepared to professionally reupholster a slip seat, and to consider more advanced applications for techniques and concepts covered. Once this course AND boxed cushions have been completed, you are ready to move on to Slip Seat Variations.
